Investigation into Male Found Deceased at 908 1/2 Jewett Street
March 26, 2020 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a male found after a fire was extinguished at 908 1/2 Jewett Street about 3:05 a.m. today (March 26).
The identity and cause of death of the male are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Simmons and Detective M Perez reported:
HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department personnel responded to a house fire at the above address. Firefighters forced entry into the residence and found a couch on fire in a back hallway. After the fire was extinguished, a male and a female were found unresponsive . Both victims were transported to an area hospital, where the male was pronounced deceased. The female remains in critical condition.
A second male in the residence stated he smelled smoke and exited through a window in his room.
