Traffic Incident at 2700 De Soto

July 16, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 2700 De Soto about 6:40 p.m. on Friday (July 15).

The victim, Tomas Balleza, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant N. Nguyen and Officers J. Tippy, R. Pedraza and G. Powers reported:

Three unknown suspects driving a green Chevy Cavalier robbed Tomas Balleza and a group of men at gunpoint in the 1900 block of De Soto. As the suspects fled the scene, Mr. Balleza and the other men pursued the fleeing suspects in a white pickup truck and a white Camaro. As the three vehicles traveled westbound on De Soto at a high rate of speed, Tomas Balleza lost control of his white pickup truck and struck a concrete culvert.

The suspects continued to flee and abandoned their vehicle at a nearby location. The suspects are described as three black males, 18-20 years of age.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 14827 Tuttle Point Drive

June 16, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 14827 Tuttle Point Drive about 4:05 p.m. on Monday (June 15).

The male victim, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer D. Jones reported:

The victim was driving a gold Chevrolet Traverse westbound in the 14800 block of West Oak Plaza when he may have suffered a medical episode.  He then crossed the South Richmond Avenue intersection and crashed into the backyard of a residence at the above address.

No other person or vehicles were involved in this incident.
