Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8700 Irvington Boulevard
February 18, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8700 Irvington Boulevard about 6:30 a.m. today.
The identity of the male victim, 74, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer J. Tran reported:
The victim was driving a red Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound near the above address. The driver of a tractor-trailer truck was backing up westbound at 1100 Duff Street when he ran the stop sign at the intersection of Irvington and was struck by the pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the 18-wheeler, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
