December 21, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 8000 Bellaire Boulevard about 8:30 a.m. on Sunday (December 20).  

The suspect, Jorge Luis Melendez (H/m, 17), is charged with murder in the 232nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Melendez is attached to this news release.  

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Higgs and K. Fregia reported: 

HPD patrol officers responded to a welfare check call at an apartment at the above address and found the victim lying on the floor with a stab wound.  HFD paramedics responded to the scene  and pronounced the victim deceased.  

Further investigation identified Melendez as the suspect in this case.  Melendez was located by HPD homicide investigators and subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
