Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10000 Eastex Freeway
May 20, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10000 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 10:30 a.m. today (May 20).
The identity, gender and cause of death of the victim are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer J. Tran reported:
A witness reported a gray Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on the Eastex Freeway at a slow rate of speed with a fire inside the vehicle. The Camry exited the freeway and struck the collision barrels. Neither responding HPD patrol officers nor emergency personnel were able to get the driver out of the vehicle due to the fire. The driver died at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
