Investigation into Fatal Crash at 13100 East Freeway
May 13, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 13100 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) service road about 3:30 a.m. today (May 13).
The identity of the male victim, 18, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Hill reported:
The victim and his 15-year-old brother were traveling in a green Saturn Ion eastbound on the East Freeway service road when, for unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a sign post in the grassy area between the service road and the freeway. The vehicle broke apart and the driver (victim) was ejected. The front half of the vehicle continued on the service road before coming to a stop on the other side of the road in the grass.
Paramedics pronounced the driver deceased. The juvenile passenger had no visible injuries but was transported to Texas Children's Hospital as a precaution.
The investigation is continuing.
