UPDATE: Wanted Suspect Arrested in 2018 Fatal Shooting at 6863 River Bluff Drive
May 3, 2019 - A suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 6863 River Bluff Drive about 11:40 p.m. on December 10, 2018 has been arrested.
The suspect, Richard A. Nico (b/m, 53), is charged with manslaughter in the 338th State District Court. A booking photo of Nico is attached to this news release.
The victim, Drew Conley, 17, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants T. Simmons and J. Horn reported:
Mr. Conley had been living with relatives for about one month when they told him he had to move out of the house. Prior to Conley's return, he and his uncle (Nico) got into a heated argument over the phone.
After arriving at the residence to retrieve his belongings, Conley and Nico began arguing again and verbally threatened each other. Nico went back inside the residence and up to his bedroom. Conley later went upstairs to Nico's bedroom to confront him. Fearing for his safety, Nico stated he shot Conley once in the leg as he approached. Conley fled from the residence and was transported by private vehicle to a nearby emergency room, where he was later pronounced dead.
Nico remained at the residence and was questioned by investigators. The case was then referred to a Harris County grand jury.
Following a review by the grand jury, Nico was subsequently charged on April 18 for his role in Conley's death. Last Friday (April 26), Nico was arrested without incident.
