Investigation into Shooting Incident at 8601 Southwest Freeway
May 2, 2019 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a child brought to 8601 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) service road about 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday (May 1).
The victim, a one-year-old boy, suffered at least one gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers Z. Brumley and M. Althaus reported:
The victim's father, 20, stated he was driving near the intersection of Braeswood Boulevard and Bissonnet Street when his vehicle rear-ended the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect exited his vehicle and was armed with a pistol. The child's father became frightened and drove away from the suspect. At some point, the suspect then fired multiple shots into the rear of the father's vehicle. One of the bullets traveled through the trunk of the father's vehicle and struck the child in the chest.
Paramedics were called to a gas station at the above address and transported the boy to an area hospital.
At this time, there are no known descriptions on the suspect or wanted vehicle.
