Suspects Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 1401 Redbud
March 6, 2019 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 1401 Redford about 8:15 p.m. on February 18.
The suspects, Cristofer Ernesto Perez (H/m, 17) and Juan Castillo (H/m, 17), are charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. Both are accused in the killing of Edward Guerrero, 21, who died at the scene.
Booking photos of both suspects are not releasable at this time pending further investigation.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Lopez and I. Ulloa reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the 1300 block of Redford and found Mr. Guerrero lying face down next to a vehicle in a apartment complex parking lot. He had been shot. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased. A witness stated Guerrero and another male appeared to exchange gunfire while a third male, armed with a pistol, fled the scene on foot. A sedan of unknown male and model, possibly with three males inside, also fled the scene.
Further investigation identified Perez and Castillo as suspects in this case and both were taken into custody on Tuesday (March 5) without incident and subsequently charged for their roles. The investigation is continuing.
