Investigation into Fatal Crash at 9500 Leawood
March 1, 2019 - A woman critically injured in an auto-pedestrian crash at 9500 Leawood about 1:45 p.m. on February 25 has died.
The identity of the victim, 54, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Warhol and Officer C. Washington reported:
The female driver of a gray Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound on Leawood and approaching a red light at the intersection of Bissonnet. As the light turned green, she proceeded through the intersection, turned left on Bissonnet and struck the victim, who was crossing Bissonnet. The victim was transported by paramedics to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in critical condition.
Doctors pronounced the victim deceased on Thursday (February 28). A preliminary investigation determined the driver failed to yield the right-of-way to the pedestrian.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
