Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 11622 Vinedale Drive
January 22, 2019 - Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental shooting of a man at 11622 Vinedale Drive about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday (January 19).
The identity of the victim, 17, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Barrow and J. Stroble reported:
The victim and his younger brother were inside their bedroom at the above address. The victim was playing with a handgun when it apparently accidentally discharged and struck him in the head. He was transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. According to statements from the brother and other family members in the residence, they did not own any firearms nor were they aware of any firearms in the home.
The investigation is continuing.
