Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2500 Southwest Freeway
February 5, 2019 - A man injured in a crash at 2500 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 1:45 a.m. on January 26 has died.
The victim is identified as Benny Reed, 61. His cause of death is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer J. Kiper reported:
Mr. Reed was driving a black Toyota Corolla westbound on the Southwest Freeway, was distracted and struck the rear of a Lexus ES350 sedan. Reed was transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital. Doctors pronounced him deceased on Sunday (February 3).
The investigation is continuing.
