Investigation into Fatal Crash at 100 East Loop South
October 15, 2018 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 100 East Loop South about 11:45 p.m. on Saturday (October 13).
The identity of the deceased male victim, 61, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer J. Baker reported:
A witness stated the victim was operating a black Harley Davidson motorcycle and a male, 40, was operating a yellow Buell motorcycle as they passed by a vehicle at a high rate of speed traveling southbound on the East Loop. Moments later, the victim's motorcycle struck the rear of a beige BMW. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The other male dropped his motorcycle. He was struck either by the Harley Davidson motorcycle or the BMW and was transported to an area hospital. The female driver, 53, of the BMW, sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is continuing. It is unknown at this time if the motorcyclists were racing one another.
