Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Assault at 315 North Sidney Street
October 8, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal beating of a woman at 315 North Sidney Street about 2:45 a.m. on Sunday (October 7).
The suspect, Paul Ramirez (H/m, 63), is charged with murder in the 2289th State District Court. A photo of Ramirez is attached to this news release.
The victim, Charlene Cadwell, 60, of the above address, was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detective I. Ulloa reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a report of an assault-in progress at the above address. Upon arrival, they learned Ramirez had assaulted his common-law wife, Ms. Cadwell, with a baseball bat, causing severe head trauma. Ramirez was detained at the scene.
During an interview with HPD Homicide Division investigators, Ramirez admitted to his role in the incident. A witness to the assault also provided a statement on the incident and Ramirez was subsequently charged with murder.
