Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10538 Beaumont Highway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 10538 Beaumont Highway (U.S. Highway 90) around 12:50 a.m. on Saturday (November 3).
The identity of the male victim, 47, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer F. Flynn reported:
The victim was driving a black Ford F-150 northbound in the 10500 block of the Beaumont Highway when he struck the rear end of a red Kenworth tractor-trailer. The 18-wheeler was parked facing northbound on the right shoulder of the highway. The driver had run out of fuel, was unable to completely exit the roadway, and was partially blocking a moving lane of traffic. The victim failed to control his speed and struck the back of the 18-wheeler. The pickup truck's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
There are no charges in this incident, as the investigation is continuing.
