Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3600 Mangum Road about 5:05 p.m. on Monday (May 28).  

The identity of the male victim, 23, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Warhol and Officer A. Mares reported:  

According to witnesses, the victim was driving a silver Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed southbound on Mangum when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree in a median at the above address.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  His female passenger, 31, was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.  

The investigation is continuing.
