UPDATE: Charges Filed in Shooting at 10901 Telephone Road
July 9, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a toddler that occurred at 10901 Telephone Road at 11 p.m. on May 20.
The suspect, Ali Parvez Masoom (A/m, 32), is charged with making a firearm accessible to a minor in Harris County Criminal Court #6. A booking photo of Masoom is attached to this news release.
The male victim, 2, was transported by his parents to an area hospital in critical but stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers A. Hernandez and C. Bowling reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to an area hospital regarding the apparent accidental shooting of a two-year-old male. Officers then determined the shooting had occurred at a residence at the above address.
Further investigation and parents' statements determined Masoom, the father, had left the weapon within reach of the child. He was arrested and charged on June 30.
