Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5810 Birchmont Drive
August 27, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5810 Birchmont Drive about 10:45 a.m. on Saturday (August 25).
The suspect, Jonathon Lee Fleetwood (w/m, 33), is charged with manslaughter in the 182nd State District Court. A photo of Fleetwood is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:
The victim was staying at a residence at the above address when he was confronted by Fleetwood, who had a gun. Fleetwood instructed the victim to leave the residence. While pointing the gun at the victim, Fleetwood said he accidentally shot the victim once in the back. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Fleetwood was detained and subsequently charged.
