Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6000 Main Street
Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurre at 6000 Main Street about 11:55 a.m. today (April 24).
The identity of the deceased female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer M. Ramos reported:
The driver of a black dump truck was traveling eastbound on Sunset Boulevard and stopped at the red light at 6000 Main Street. The victim was on a bicycle and also traveling east on Sunset. As the truck turned right onto Main Street, the bicyclist - not in a crosswalk - attempted to cross Main Street. At that time, the bicyclist struck the truck and was then run over by the truck's right rear tires.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was questioned, determined not to be intoxicated and subsequently released. The investigation is continuing.
