Investigation into Fatal Crash at 12300 South Sam Houston Parkway East Service Road
Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 12300 South Sam Houston Parkway East service road (Beltway 8) about 9:35 p.m. on Wednesday (April 11).
The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer B. Roberts reported:
The driver of a white Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound on the service road at the above address while the victim was on a bicycle and attempting to cross the lanes of traffic, not at a crosswalk. The bicyclist failed to yield the right of way and was struck by the Jeep. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver was questioned, showed no signs of intoxication and was released.
The investigation is continuing.
