Investigation into Fatal Crash at 800 West Sam Houston Parkway North
October 30, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 800 West Sam Houston Parkway North service road (Beltway 8) about 11:15 p.m. last Friday (October 27).
The identity of the male victim, 23, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Klementich and Officer M. Nicotra reported:
According to witnesses, the victim was driving a white NIssan Frontier pickup truck at a high rate of speed southbound on the service road south of the Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) and failed to stay in a single lane. The vehicle then left the roadway, continued southbound on the shoulder and struck a support cable of a power line pole. The impact caused the vehicle to spin around and strike a sound barrier wall next to the service road. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the driver deceased.
