Investigation into Fatal Hit and Run Crash at 12400 North Freeway
October 9, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 12400 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 3:20 a.m. on Saturday (October 7).
The identity of the male victim, 19, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Salazar and Officer J. Crisler reported:
The victim was driving a silver Toyota Avalon northbound on the North Freeway when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the concrete pillar on the left shoulder. The victim and his passenger got out and began to walk northbound on the left shoulder of the North Freeway's main lanes. The victim then attempted to run across the freeway in an eastbound direction when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
