Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 7800 Easton
October 2, 2017 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in an attempted robbery at 7800 Easton about 2:45 a.m. last Friday (Sept. 29).
The suspect, Arturo Mata (H/m, 17), is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 184th State District Court. A photo of Mata is not available for release at this time, pending further investigation.
HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers R. Montalvo and R. Watson reported:
A man and a woman were sleeping inside their vehicle at the above address when they were approached by Mata and another unknown suspect. The suspects opened both doors and demanded property from the victims. The unknown suspect produced a pistol and pointed it at the male victim, who began struggling with the suspect. During the struggle, the pistol discharged one time, striking suspect Mata in the chest. Mata was transported to a local hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening wounds. The unknown suspect fled the scene. The victims were not injured.
