Investigation into Fatal Crash at 11600 Katy Freeway
October 2, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 11600 Katy Feeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 3:05 a.m. on Sunday (October 1).
The identity of the male victim, 46, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Salazar and Officer J. Baker reported:
The victim was driving a white Hyundai Santa Fe westbound on the Katy Freeway service road approaching the intersection of Kirkwood and struck a traffic signal pole. The vehicle went airborne and then came to a stop on the west side of the intersection. Several witnesses managed to remove the driver from the vehicle before it burst into flames. The victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
No other vehicles nor persons were involved in the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
