Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7700 Eastex Freeway
November 9, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 7700 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road about 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 8).
The identity of the deceased juvenile female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer A. Holmes reported:
A black Chrysler Sebring was traveling southbound on the service road at the above address when the male driver ran the red light at the Crosstimbers intersection and struck a white Ford Escape, whose driver was traveling westbound on Crosstimbers with the green light. The impact caused the Ford to strike a silver Cadillac STS.
The driver of the Chrysler failed to stop to render aid and fled the scene on foot. He is described only as a Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years of age.
HFD paramedics arrived and pronounced a backseat passenger (a child) in the Ford dead at the scene. The Ford's driver and front seat passenger, both adult males, were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital. No one in the Cadillac was injured.
