Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4100 North Sam Houston Parkway East
July 24, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3700 North Sam Houston Parkway East about 10:10 p.m. last Friday (July 21).
Three persons - an adult male and two young children - were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Salazar and Officer R. Veal reported:
Seven vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash at the above address. They were a blue Ford F-250 pickup truck, a silver Chevrolet Malibu, a silver Chevrolet Tahoe, a black Chevrolet Tahoe, a black Toyota Camry, a gray Acura and a blue Toyota Tundra.
All the vehicles were traveling westbound when traffic began to slow down due to road construction ahead on the tollway. Witnesses stated as traffic was coming to a stop, the Ford F-250 was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck the rear of the Malibu. That crash resulted in a chain-reaction involving five other vehicles ahead. All three persons inside the Malibu died at the scene. No one else was injured.
None of the drivers in the crash exhibited signs of intoxication. The at-fault driver of the F-250 consented to a blood draw, with results pending. No arrest or charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is continuing.
