Investigation into Fatal Crash at 12300 Westheimer

January 27, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 12300 Westheimer at about 3 a.,. today (January 27). 

The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer R. Veal reported:  

A Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constable was driving in his patrol vehicle eastbound on Westheimer when he struck a pedestrian (victim) who was standing in the roadway.  The victim died at the scene.  

A preliminary investigation determined the pedestrian crossed the street, not at a crosswalk, and failed to yield the right-of-way. 
The investigation is continuing.
