Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4500 West Orem
January 23, 2017 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 4500 West Orem at about 8:40 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 21).
The male suspect faces a possible charge of intoxication manslaughter.
The identity of the male victim, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Duplechain and Officer H. Haq reported:
The suspect was driving a blue Toyota Scion eastbound on West Orem when he failed to maintain a single lane, left the roadway and crossed a grassy median. The vehicle then struck the concrete base of a power line tower. The suspect was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect has not been identified at this time due to the extent of his injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
