Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8300 South Loop East

January 17, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8300 South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610 East) about 6:35 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 16).

The identity of the deceased male victim, 45, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer C. Tosso reported:

The victim was driving a silver Cadillac DTS when the vehicle ran out of gas and stopped in the left shoulder of the freeway at the above address.  It appears the victim was standing between his vehicle and the far left lane when he was struck by a red Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling eastbound in the left lane.  The victim was then struck by a gray Honda Accord.  Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.  Both drivers stopped and were interviewed.  No charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation is continuing.
