Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 10175 Harwin
January 12, 2017 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 10175 Harwin about 9:50 a.m. on December 7, 2016.
The victim, Juan Tzep Cotiy, 17, of Houston, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Doctors pronounced him dead on Monday (January 9).
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rodriguez and Senior Police Officer M. Condon reported:
Mr. Cotiy and his father were walking to work on Harwin near the above address. As Cotiy walked ahead of his father, two male suspects ran toward him from across the street. According to Cotiy's father, a third suspect exited a small, four-door vehicle parked in a nearby driveway, grabbed Cotiy and shot him one time. All three suspects then got back into the silver vehicle and fled the scene. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported Cotiy to the hospital.
The suspects are described only as three young Hispanic males with hoodies and bandanas, one armed with a pistol. All three fled in a silver 2000 to 2006 four-door, silver import sedan.
