Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6100 Eastex Freeway
January 9, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 6100 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 10:25 a.m. today (Jan. 9).
The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer O. Lewis reported:
The driver of a black Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound on the Eastex Freeway when she changed lanes in an unsafe manner, crossed all lanes of traffic, and struck the left concrete barrier. The Sentra then flipped onto its side and the front seat passenger (victim) was ejected from the vehicle. The remaining occupants, including the driver, were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in unknown conditions.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. There are no charges in this case, pending further investigation.
