UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 2400 Staples
September 9, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman found at 2400 Staples at about 4:40 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 4).
The suspect, Bobby Bell, (b/m, 58), is charged with murder in the 338th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Viola Pickney, 33, of Houston.
A photo of suspect Bell, also known as Bobby Clarence Wooten, is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Murdock and Senior Police Officer B. Evans reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and discovered Ms. Pickney lying in a vacant field, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Further investigation identified Bell as the suspect in this case. He was taken into custody later that same day (September 4) without incident.
