Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 4800 Lamonte
October 19, 2016 - The fatal shooting of a robbery suspect at 4800 Lamonte about 1:15 a.m. today will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The suspect, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Officer S. Overstreet reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a discharge of firearms call at the Woods on Lamonte Apartments at the above address. Officers arrived and spoke with a male involved in the incident who directed them to an area where they found the suspect deceased from a gunshot wound.
Further investigation determined the male was waiting in the courtyard of the apartment complex when he was approached by the suspect who, at gunpoint, attempted to rob the male. Fearing for his life, the male struggled with the suspect over the weapon and it discharged, striking the suspect in the abdomen.
