Investigation into Fatal Crash at 11400 North Freeway
October 14, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 11400 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 1:15 a.m. today.
The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Roque and Officer J. Rivera reported:
The driver of a tractor trailer truck was traveling southbound on the North Freeway when he failed to control his speed and struck a metal guardrail and a concrete pillar. The truck rolled over and caught on fire. The driver appeared to have been ejected and died at the scene. His two sons, 5 and 2, were passengers in the truck. The older boy pulled his brother from the truck. Both children were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The older boy had minor injuries while his brother suffered severe burns.
The investigation is continuing.
