Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5201 North Shepherd
October 11, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5201 North Shepherd Drive about 8:10 a.m. today.
The identity of the female victim, 66, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Officer J. Perrotte reported:
A male driver of a black Hyundai Accent was traveling southbound in the 5500 block of North Shepherd and caused a crash at that location. He then drove erratically southbound on North Shepherd and crossed over into the northbound lanes where he struck the driver's side door of a black Toyota Corolla. The driver (victim) of the Toyota, traveling southbound on North Shepherd, was attempting to make a left turn onto West Donovan when her vehicle was struck. Paramedics transported the woman to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The male driver of the Toyota is at Ben Taub General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries and faces possible charges in this crash, pending further investigation.
