Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5600 Southwest Freeway
October 3, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 5600 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) at about 4:55 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 2).
The identity of the male victim, 28, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer E. Morgado reported:
The victim was driving a brown Toyota Corolla southbound on the Southwest Freeway when he failed to maintain a single lane and struck the west side retaining wall. The Corolla then rolled twice, ejecting the victim into the main lanes of the freeway. An unknown vehicle, also traveling southbound on the freeway, then struck the victim and fled the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
