UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Multiple Southeast Houston Robberies


November 1, 2016 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in 10 robberies of businesses in southeast Houston between July 27 and September 4, 2016.

The suspect, Antonio Johnson (b/m, 38) is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 248th State District Court. A photo of Johnson is attached to this news release.

Johnson is believed to have committed multiple robberies in which he walked into a store and posed as a customer.  He would walk up to the register, purchase an item and then point a gun at the cashier when the register was opened.  Johnson would then threaten the cashier, demand money from the register and then flee the store.

He is believed to have committed the following robberies:
  • Walgreens at 3822 OST at about 11:40 p.m. on July 27
  • Home Depot at 6810 Gulf Freeway at about 5:05 p.m. on July 31
  • Family Dollar at 4122 Telephone at about 1:50 p.m. on August 5
  • Family Dollar at 804 Telephone at about 5:15 p.m. on August 10
  • Walgreens at 9200 Cullen at about 2:20 p.m. on August 13
  • Dollar General at 9530 Cullen at about 3:55 p.m. on August 15
  • Family Dollar at 5076 Griggs at about 10:20 a.m. on August 21
  • Lowes at 1000 Gulfgate Center at about 8:50 p.m. on August 21
  • Home Depot at 6810 Gulf Freeway at about 9:35 p.m. on August 27
  • CVS Pharmacy at 8234 Broadway at about 9:35 p.m. on September 4

Following the release of surveillance video to the public, a citizen contacted Crime Stoppers of Houston and identified Johnson as a suspect in these cases.  Johnson, in jail on unrelated charges, admitted to his role in all robberies.
