Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7600 Beechnut
May 31, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7600 Beechnut about 6:20 a.m. today (May 31).
The male victim, 60, a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Senior Police Officer R. Saenz reported:
The victim was crossing Beechnut, not at a designated crosswalk, when he was struck by a black Lexus Es350 traveling eastbound on Bissonnet. Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital. The driver of the Lexus was questioned and released at the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian failed to yield the right of way to the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
