Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 4230 Barberry
May 24, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal shooting at 4230 Barberry about 9:35 p.m. on Monday (May 23).
The victim, Jamil Melvay Penix, 23, of Detroit, Michigan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Officer M. Stahlin reported:
Some tenants of the Kings Row Apartments at the above address saw Mr. Penix working on a music video at the apartment complex. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots and then found Penix lying in the parking lot on the east side of the complex. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased.
At this time, there is no known motive nor suspect (s).
