UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5840 Glenmont
May 13, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5840 Glenmont about 1 p.m. last Sunday (May 8).
The suspect, Edis Lopez (H/m, 29), is charged with murder in the 232nd State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Jose Antonio Hernandez, 34, of the above address, who was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Hassig and Officer T. Ferguson reported:
Mr. Hernandez was drinking with friends in his apartment complex parking lot when he was approached by an unknown suspect armed with a shotgun. The suspect fired at Hernandez, striking him multiple times, before fleeing the scene.
Further investigation identified Lopez as a suspect in this case and he was taken into custody on Tuesday (May 10) without incident.
