Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 9803 West Sam Houston Parkway South
June 13, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman at 9803 West Sam Houston Parkway South #2221 about 12:40 a.m. on Saturday (June 11).
The suspect, Bryan Euymr Vega-Velez (H/m, 38), is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court. A photo of Vega-Velez is attached to this news release.
The victim, Alma D. Rivera-Melendez, 28, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rodriguez and Senior Police Officer M. Condon reported:
Ms. Rivera-Melendez and the suspect, Vega-Velez, were in a dating relationship and had been arguing throughout the day, via text messages, while both were at work. Rivera-Melendez arrived home first where she continued the argument via text messages while on the apartment's patio. Upon arriving home, Vega-Velez first went to the bedroom and then walked to the patio to confront Rivera-Melendez. A witness reported hearing the couple argue and then a single gunshot. Vega-Velez then walked back into the apartment before fleeing the scene.
