Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 6603 Hirsch
June 8, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman and the wounding of a man that occurred at 6603 Hirsch about 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday (June 7).
The suspect, Darrell Paul Mitchell (b/m, 28), is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court. Ms. Lakiesha Lewis, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Johnel Francis, 24, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Officer M. Perez reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and were directed by a citizen to apartment #12. Officers then located Ms. Lewis and Mr. Francis in the bathroom, both having suffered gun shot wounds. Francis was unconscious and was transported to the hospital.
Later that same evening (June 7), Mitchell turned himself in to police at the HPD Edward A. Thomas Building at 1200 Travis and was arrested without incident.
Investigators are still seeking the weapon used in the incident and urge anyone with information in this case to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
