Investigation into Fatal Hit-and-Run at 6800 Ranchester
January 25, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 6800 Ranchester about 10:05 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 23).
The female victim, 53, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Thomas and Officer R. Romo reported:
The victim was walking southbound on Bellaire Boulevard when she attempted to cross the intersection at Ranchester. While in the cross walk, she was struck by a dark gray sedan of unknown make and model. Surveillance video shows the driver exited his vehicle, observed the victim lying on the ground, then ran back to his vehicle and fled the scene eastbound on Bellaire.
