Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 5203 Dumfries
January 19, 2016 - The fatal shooting of a juvenile male at 5203 Dumfries about 1:05 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 16) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The victim, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Burton and M. Brady reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the above address and found the victim with a gunshot wound in a bedroom of the residence. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed the victim and his stepbrother, 20, had gone to the residence after a gathering. The stepbrother was showing the victim a semiautomatic pistol, which belonged to the stepbrother's father. While in the course of showing the pistol to his younger stepbrother, the 20-year-old male accidently discharged the pistol, striking his stepbrother once in the torso.
