UPDATE: One Suspect Arrested, Another Sought in Fatal Shooting at 4735 Anderson
January 05, 2016 - Charges have been filed against one suspect arrested and another wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 4735 Anderson that occurred about 4:10 a.m. on December 22.
The suspects, Daniel Moreno (H/m, 22) and Jonathan Vasquez (H/m, 21), are charged with capital murder in the 351st State District Court. Both are accused in the killing of Saul Cruz, 71, who died at the scene.
Photos of Morales and Vasquez are attached to this news release. Vasquez is not in custody.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Officer M. Stahlin reported:
Mr. Cruz was seated in his car, working his shift as a security guard at the above address, when two suspects approached him from behind and ambushed him. Both suspects began firing upon Cruz's car as they approached with no prior confrontation. The suspects then robbed Cruz and fled the scene on foot.
Surveillance photos of the suspects and surveillance video, which can be viewed on the HPD YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/Lp6hUg_Vkcw, were released to the public on December 22.
Acting on a Crime Stoppers tip, investigators identified Moreno and Vasquez as the suspects in this case. Moreno was taken into custody last Tuesday (December 28) without incident. Jonathan Vasquez remains at large.
