Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6800 Southwest Freeway
January 04, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash in the 6800 block of the Southwest Freeway (South U. S. Highway 59) service road about 5:55 a.m. last Friday (January 1).
The female victim, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Ross and Officer J. Best reported:
The victim was driving a silver GMC Terrain sports utility vehicle southbound on the Southwest Freeway and exited onto the service road. The vehicle failed to stay in a single lane and struck a light pole on the service road. The victim died at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
