August 22, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3000 Telephone Road about 4:05 p.m. last Friday (August 19).
The identity of the deceased male victim, 44, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Salazar and Officer O. Bledsoe reported:
The driver of a blue Nissan Frontier was traveling westbound on Telephone Road and changed lanes due to a slow moving vehicle. At that time, the driver lost control of the Nissan, possibly due to wet road conditions. The Nissan left the roadway and struck the victim as he walked on a sidewalk. The Nissan continued to travel and struck a light pole and concrete pillar at the front entrance of a church at 3011 Telephone Road.
Paramedics transported the pedestrian to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver was questioned at the scene. No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
