Investiation into Fatal Crash at 5300 Sam Houston Parkway
August 8, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 5300 East Sam Houston Parkway South at about 5:35 a.m. on Saturday (August 6).
The identity of the victim, 22, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer E. Morgado reported:
The driver of a red Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on the east Sam Houston Parkway service road when he failed to control his speed and struck the rear of a red Hyundai Accent stopped at a red light on the eastbound service road. The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed the driver of the Camry may have fallen asleep.
The investigation is continuing.
