2nd UPDATE: Charges Upgraded on Suspect Arrested in Fatal Crash at 8900 Almeda Road
April 5, 2016 - Charges have been upgraded against a suspect arrested in a crash at 8900 Almeda Road about 7:50 p.m. on March 22.
The suspect, Elvia L. Coronado (P/f, 44), is charged with intoxicated manslaughter in the 174th State District Court. A photo of Coronado is attached to this news release.
The victim, Mollie Walker, 44, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced dead on Saturday (April 2).
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Vanderbull and Officer J. Rivera reported:
Ms. Walker was riding a bicycle southbound on Almeda when the suspect, driving a white Ford Escape, failed to control her speed and struck the rear of the bicyclist. The suspect, Coronado, was arrested at the scene. Paramedics transported Walker to the hospital in critical condition.
