Update #2: Second Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5638 Selinsky
October 22, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a second suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 5638 Selinksky about 5:20 p.m. on August 8.
The second suspect, Troy Jerome Washington (b/m, 21), is charged with murder in the 339th State District Court.
Suspect James Mike (b/m, 21), was previously arrested and charged with murder in the same court. Photos of both Washington and Mike are attached to this news release.
The victim, Rickey Fitzgerald Shields, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim, Marcus Simmons, 21, was transported to an area hospital.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Brooks and C. Cegielski reported:
Mr. Shields was at a barber shop at the above address when he was shot for his involvement in a confrontation at an apartment complex across the street. A second male (Simmons) was also shot but survived. The unknown suspects fled in an unknown direction.
Further investigation developed information that identified Mike and Washington as suspects in this case. On Aug. 9, Mike was arrested without incident. On Wednesday (Oct. 21), Washington was charged in this incident. He was already in the Harris County Jail on an unrelated charge.
